For some, home cooking is old-school. It takes time. It's complicated. It's impractical. The new trend? Dining out. Fast food. Hotdog stands. Pizza delivery. Quick Bite. Grab-and-go snack. And oh! Gourmet coffee. With instant food much more accessible and far better than preparing our own meals in terms of time consumed, the benefits of home cooking are ignored and becoming less and less frequent. But what's in home cooking that really makes it more advised? Believe it or not, home cooking provides loads of benefits. Let's know what they are:
You get what you want to eat. While you get to choose from a restaurant menu, you are still limited to what they want you to eat. At home, you know you have limitless possibilities over the kinds of food you want.
You control the portion size. Instead of having large corporation and chefs to decide how many olives you get or how many trans fat your meat contains, at home cooking, you are the only one who is in control over the amount of food you want to eat. Plus, you won't be charged if you ask more some extra mayo.
You choose your ingredients. Even if you are not conscious about your health and calorie intake, you know you have the control over what to put in your food. If you buy ready-to-eat food outside, you have no control over the ingredients they put. If they serve it to you, you
just eat it, right? And if you ask "what's in it?" you probably will not get an answer at all, or at least the answer you deserve.
You know it's clean. Have you ever prepared food without washing your hands? Probably not. It might not have happened to you yet but you are more likely to get food poisoned from the food you eat outside than the food you prepared at your very kitchen.
You can refrigerate or throw away food you can't eat. Often at restaurants, you are obliged to eat what you have ordered because it costs a lot of money.
When you finished eating, you can just sit down at the dining table or move to the sofa and watch television for hours without thinking of vacating the area because other costumers are ready to take your place.
You spend less money. You are probably aware of this one. Eating out costs you more than just buying the same food and cooking it at home.
You can cook large recipe and refrigerate extra portions for the next meal. This saves you time and effort.
It can help you lose weight. Yes, home cooking helps promote weight loss. Since you are the only one who is in control over the ingredients you want to put in, you can opt to go for healthy meals instead of just having the restaurant decide what you should eat.
Finally, it can help you improve your cooking skill more and invite friends to come and dine with you for hours of fun and meaningful bonding.
