Today breakfast is advertised as a cure all, do anything, magical remedy for any ailment you may be ill from. This is not the case, breakfast, in many ways, is the same as any other meal.

Look at the differences; one happens around 8 am the other meals happen later. So there is that.

What other differences? Breakfast usually is made of grains, and usually of sweets.

Truthfully, if you are eating pancakes for breakfast and expecting to lose weight you are seriously confused about diet and nutrition. You can't just start eating early in the day and think it is going to have some magical effect on your metabolism.

Breakfast does start up your metabolism, but not anymore than any other meal. If you have trouble waking up in the morning breakfast will help, but not as much as a shot of espresso or an amphetamine based psycho-stimulant.

In fact those pancakes and waffles are not going to really help wake you up all that much. The will provide lasting energy throughout the day, within a matter for forty minutes they should kick in.

If you want a boost in your step from breakfast, eat eggs. These little guys have tons of protein and magnesium that are going to give you a good
quick jog after trying to awake from a good night's sleep.

Eating in the morning will help you to lose weight only if you are doing something to stimulate fat loss after eating. In fact you could lose more weight by not eating in the morning.

Some nutritionist would slap some on for saying it, but it is true. Of course exercising on an empty stomach is going to be a bit harder, but if you can tough it out you will be burning fat reserves rather than burning calories from the food you just ate.

Don't misunderstand any of this. You have got to eat food.

Eating breakfast is going to be better than not eating breakfast, but if you are not accustomed to it you may start to see some weight gain. If you start to gain weight then what you need to do is either eat smaller meals during the day, or start exercising more.

Remember nutrition is nutrition no matter what time it is. If you are eating breakfast you should try to eat healthier foods rather than those fattening sweet cakes.

The good thing about breakfast is that eating whole wheat carbs are going to be digested all throughout the day, so if you have some healthy carbohydrates you may be able to cut back on eating other foods throughout the day.

Eating the same carbs during the night will be less easy to digest.
