Storing food can be a difficult prospect. Not only do you want to have a lot in storage but you want it to be nutritious too.

The problem is you cannot put fruit and vegetables in storage. For that you need to start a garden.

However, there are some very nutritious foods that you can store. Wheat for example, if stored in its whole form, can last for 30 years or more!

A lot can happen in 30 years, financial collapse, nuclear fallout, cataclysmic tectonic movement. Being prepared is never a bad thing.

Besides, buying food in bulk and storing it is also a great way to save money. Besides lasting an entire lifetime, wheat has tons of protein in it.

You have seen the whey protein powders that are meant to bulk you up and create massive muscles. This is protein taken from the wheat germ and turned into a powder, usually mixed with additional flavorings.

Interestingly enough, it was wheat that helped start Samarian and Babylonians the first civilizations of the known world. Without the large stock piles of wheat they had stored, they would have never survived as a society.

Protein is an essential part of every cell, so it is very necessary that you get a
good amount of it. Though, your body needs a lot more than just protein.

It needs vitamins and nutrients to support healthy chemical reactions within the cells. Proteins create the cells through a process called synthesis, and they use nutrients and vitamins during the process.

The Aztec, who did some astounding things as a civilization, without electricity, had a very unique food that they stock piled. The technical term is Salvia Hispanic, but you have probably heard of it as chia seeds.

Chia seeds are commonly known as the pinnacle of super foods. They have more protein than any other grain, they are rich in anti-oxidants, and they even have omegas 3 and 9 in them.

That means they are going to provide muscle growth, good holistic health, and even promote healthy brain functioning. The only downside is they don't last 30 years; however, they will last a good five years if stored properly.

Five years is nothing to sneeze at. That is enough time to teach a child how to walk, talk and even do simple arithmetic.

It is also going to be advisable to have something besides grain in your storage. Try getting honey and flower and other raw materials.

Having diversity in the storage department is going to help a lot if you ever living off the food storage.
