Many different countries produce different kinds of sparkling wines. These sparkling wines can be made from different grape types and the processes of making them can also vary.
What is common among all sparkling wines is the presence of bubbles and the distinct taste that is commonly associated with the beverage. The bubbles in sparkling wines are the result of carbon dioxide dissolved in the wine during the 2nd process of fermentation.
There are various processes of making sparkling wines. Each process gives its product a distinct taste. Different countries in the world vary in the processes they use to make sparkling wines. Their choice of process depends both on their preference and what is required by the law of their region.
In this article, I will discuss 5 of the most popular regions that make sparkling wines. Included also are some of the labels made in these regions.
1. France. Champagne, the most famous type of sparkling wine, is made in this region. Most specifically, it is made in the Champagne region of France and made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes. Unless sparkling wine is made in this region and from these grapes, it cannot be rightly called Champagne.

that make sparkling wines. Cremant is a sparkling wine made in the most notable region of Loire Valley.
2. Italy. The sparkling wines made in this place are called Asti. A lot of people can remember Asti Spumante as it used to be called. Asti is actually made in the Italian wine region of Piedmont and is made from Moscato grapes.
3. Spain. Cave, which is also known as the Spanish Champagne, is produced in the region of Catalonia in Spain. This sparkling wine is made from different types of grapes including the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
4. United States. The US actually produces a lot of sparkling wines. And there are also many French Champagne producers that have set up shop s in the US like the Domaine Chandon and Tattinger in Napa Valley and Roederer in Mendocino.
The sparkling wines made in the United States are made from traditional Champagne grapes like the Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. Many sparkling wine makers in the US have also included Pinot Blanc grapes to this list.

In Germany, sparkling wines are made from Reisling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris grapes. In Austria, it is made from Welschriesling and Gruner Vetliner grapes.
