Chemical components are made of atoms that have protons and electrons within. Water is a combination of elements and is referred to as a molecule. The elements in question are hydrogen and oxygen that are held by the mechanism of bonding. This is simply the attempt by unstable elements to attain stability or chemical equilibrium. There are three states of matter. The most common state is the liquid since it is exhibited under normal conditions or room temperature.
Approximately seventy five percent of the globe is covered by this liquid. The oceans store the highest volumes and the largest is the Pacific. Rivers continually drain into the oceans. They spring from the highland regions. It is also located in the ground as wet lands, bogs and springs. The underground version sis referred to as deep seepage. Humans have found ways of obtaining it from the deep layers of the earth. The other form that is generally in gaseous state is located in the atmosphere. The clouds in their mature stage have the ice pellets.
The hydrological cycle explains the movement of the molecules within the atmosphere. It is thought to begin with the precipitation of the clouds. The precipitants experience free fall and hit the ground whereby they are either drained away in rivers or percolate the deep layers of the soil. A flow also exists within the deep layers of the soil and is generally toward the oceans. The rivers drain in the oceans too. Transpiration and evaporation in the lakes, rivers and oceans occur making the atmosphere rich in moisture. With an existing lifting mechanism the moisture rises and forms clouds that later precipitate. This process is continuous.
Clean water is very important in preserving the health of both humans and animals. When pathogens are eliminated then the liquid becomes safe for intake. The ocean is saline due to the lack of outlets. Rivers are continually draining into them hence an accumulation of sediments occurs. For the fresh lakes, it is not possible for the sediments to accumulate due to the outlets.
Some human activities introduce harmful chemicals and pathogens into the liquid bodies. This is called pollution and makes it extremely dangerous for animal and human consumption. The most hit are the organisms living in or near the bodies and the plants.
The most common examples of water borne diseases include diarrhea, bilharzia, dysentery, cholera and typhoid. Microorganisms contaminating the sources are responsible and death outbreaks have been reported. The effects are severe and the maladies if not curbed have the potential of wiping out a whole community.
The water borne disease effects of pollution explain why it is important to drink clean water. A process of purification is carried out to make it pathogen free. Boiling has been one of the most common methods employed. Another method is sedimentation but it is not very effective. Desalination is expensive but very effective.
Water is thus very important to both the earth and human body. This may be the reason why both are greatly made of high liquid volumes. It propagates agriculture because without it land becomes unproductive. For aquatic animals, the property of being transparent makes it possible for sunlight to pass through.
