Wines are integral part of any party, especially the formal ones. They add taste to any party that is because they are the ones responsible for setting the tone of the party. Most of the time, this drink is named depending on the era they are produced, such is the case with champagne and pouilly fuisse, and some are named from the grapes they are produced of. There are also wines that are named with brand names, and some are named depending on the place they are produced in.

* Regional Wines - These are produced in a certain region. For example, in Europe, wherein the history of wines are long and rich, and this is further evidenced by the fact that there is strict regu
lation for the quality of wines that they produce, such as the grapes used and practices and place of the vineyard. Examples of regional ones are Bordeaux, Chablis, Chianti, Burgundy, Beaujolais, and Champagne.

* Varietal Wines - These are the types in which whose names are derived from the names of the grapes that were used in the production. The more common types of varietal include, chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, merlot, pinos gris, and sangiovese. Most wines are named this way so they can be easily classified.

* Generic Wines - Most often than not, generics are non-existent in European countries. However, for other countries all around the world, generics can be found and are abundant. These types are not really the real thing, and are only generic. For example, generic wines named champagne are not really champagne, that is because real champagne can only be produced in the champagne region of france.
