Contrary to popular belief, coffee has been around us for more than a thousand years. For this very reason, most historians divide the history of coffee between the west and the east that is because, in the west, coffee was introduced only during the 1800s. However, in the east, coffee has long been known for its stimulating properties. This is evidenced by the fact that Arabian Legends told of many tales and stories of a black and bitter beverage, which was able to stimulate ones body. Its medicinal properties are not relatively new as well, that is because Avicenna, a Persian physician and philosopher, used coffee as a medicine during his time.

Still, it is widely accepted, that coffee originally came from an Ethiopian region called Kaffa, which is located in Africa. The name of the place Kaffa, is also accepted as the original derivation of coffee's name
s, due to their resemblance and relativity. From then on, coffee slowly made its way to other countries, and in 1500, coffee was already being traded in Europe and due to the efforts of these "coffee traders", coffee became a part of the lives of all the people around the world. And as we all say, the rest of this is history. With its sudden emergence as a popular beverage, more and more researchers took the time to research about the plant, and taxes for coffee was also implemented. Now that we are enjoying coffee as it is, it would be polite to thank the efforts of the Europeans, who were the first to fully utilize the coffee plant, and market it all throughout the world. This is because the weather conditions in Europe favored the cultivation of coffee.

Have a sip. Have taste. Have a break. Knowing the rich history of coffee, we can now sit back, relax and enjoy one of the most wonderful beverages ever introduced to mankind.
