A lot of people who love pizza just rely on pizza delivery services, or choose to eat in diners/restaurants offering pizza. This can be costly, however, when done often. If you wish to consume pizza frequently, but would like it to be affordable, better think about making home made pizza. Yes, it is not that hard to make a pizza. Here are a few pizza making tips as well as several basics of how to cook pizza:
1. Cooking Materials/Instruments
When thinking of creating do it yourself pizza, you have to ensure first that you have the materials or equipment needed for the job. Pizza is baked, thus, you should have an oven to bake in. For a more authentic pizza, it is best that you bake in a brick oven, or a stone oven, which is the usual oven used in pizzerias, or pizza restaurants.
If you don't have this kind of oven, however, don't worry as you can still make home made pizza using a gas oven or an electric oven. If you want, you can also purchase a pizza stone where you'll place the pizza, and then place the stone (and the pizza) inside your electric or gas oven, so you can make a pizza that looks and tastes like famous Italian pizzas cooked in stone ovens.
One of the pizza making tips, or basics of how to cook pizza on the so called pizza stone (which will be placed inside the oven) is to actua
lly place some corn meal on the stone first before you lay your pizza on top, so as to prevent the pizza from sticking to the stone. Besides, the corn meal can also add some good flavor to your home made pizza.
It is also recommended that you set the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit as the pizza needs great heat from the oven for it to turn out perfect - in other words, with a golden brown crust, the cheese with a bubbly texture, and so on.
2. The Dough
Anyone who wishes to make a pizza should also realize that the dough makes or breaks the end product. If your dough is too soft, or too hard, then, you surely won't be enjoying your pizza. Part of the list of pizza making tips is for you to follow the instructions for making pizza dough to the letter. True, you can just buy pre-made dough from the supermarket, but if you aim to be an expert on the topic of how to cook pizza, you should know how to create your own dough.
You just need to mix these ingredients to create dough from scratch: flour, olive oil, yeast, water, salt, and sugar. Mix them until the texture becomes firm enough to mould into a ball, then flatten and roll with a rolling pin until it reaches your desired thickness, and shape, e.g. round or square.
A home made pizza, of course, will not be complete without pizza sauce and various toppings e.g. pepperoni, cheese, mushrooms, onions, beef, chicken, or pork slices, and many more.
